Our first event was February 1st at Seghesio Winery where their bottle of 2001 Zin was selling for $16. Then a stop at the Healdsburg branch of the Sonoma County Library to see their extensive County Wine Library Collection. We made a brief stop at the David Coffaro Winery in Geyserville. The after-lunch the final stop was at Stryker Winery (now the Foley Winery).
The next event was a visit to the popular animal preserve - Safari West. We boarded the long trollies and were treated to a tour of the grounds including a special welcome by their smiling giraffe. The day was topped off by an introduction to South African wines to accompany lunch.
If you are looking for hospitality, you go to Walt and Barbara Gruber's homestead barn. This summer event included a blind tasting and lunch overlooking the Gruber's vineyard. A special thanks to our hosts.
October 25th and 26th were the dates of our overnight trip to Lodi and Calaveras County. First stop was at Harmony Wynelands Winery in Lodi. Bob Hartzell gave us a concert on his famous pipe organ and we danced to his melodies before enjoying a buffet lunch. Back on the bus to Murphys and the Ironstone Vineyards. We explored the cave and saw a bridal party ride by in a white horse drawn carriage. Lunch and wine were enjoyed by all.
We checked into Murphys Suites hotel and then entered the second cave of the day at Mercer Caverns. Then off to the Stevenot winery to taste their famous wines. Sunday we toured downtown Murphys and headed to the Chatom Vineyards for lunch and yet more wine. We are, after all, a wine club!
Before heading home we made an unscheduled stop at the Lodi Wine Center for a final glass and a few purchases. There seemed to be more cases of wine in the bus than members!
Our wonderful year ended with the annual Christmas party at the Fountaingrove Inn. Formal wear was still in style and members joined in singing Christmas carols. A gourmet meal and wine ended with President Larry White handing the gavel to incoming president, Barbara Gruber.

Can you identify the players?
Historian's note: We have photo albums for many of the past years. There are wonderful pictures of members and the events. Unfortunately, none of the pictures have notes about the participants. If you are interested seeing any of the albums, just call me and I will bring it to the next meeting -- Norm Blackburn.
